Where You Will Work 

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in providing technical advice and guidance for designated Engineering projects and programs at assigned site.
  • Assist in the review, investigation and development of appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects 
  • Participate on small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects 
  • Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment 
  • Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment 
  • Perform other duties as required 

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline with no experience required 
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering 
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions 
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions 
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification 
  • Knowledge and experience of power systems engineering including equipment design and specification, installation, testing and commissioning of industrial power systems 
  • Knowledge and experience of power systems studies including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and Arc flash study and Mitigation 
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical equipment used in process plants including experience with reading One lines & electric schematics 
  • Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, SKM and Relay software (Enervista, Acselerator Quickset) 
  • Self-motivated with excellent work ethic 
  • Proficiency in MS Office 

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000-$104,000 . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
